Designed purely to crack 250mph, America's answer to the Bugatti Veyron...

The all new 1000bhp supercar

Like the Chrysler ME412, the SSC Ultimate Aero is yet another American car ready to take on the big boys who dare exceed 250mph. Little known manufacturer SSC for Shelby Super Cars are no stranger to producing high performance cars but this is by far their most extreme to date and certainly has the potential on paper at least to be faster than a Veyron.

It is Basically a more hardcore version of the standard Aero which boasts a not exactly modest 787bhp and a top speed of in excess of 230mph. Using the same 6.2 litre V8 of the Aero, the Ultimate version is seriously supercharged to produce 1046bhp (just a few more than the Bugatti Veyron). The ultimate aero has also shed some weight from it’s predecessor.

As of yet no performance figures have been set for the Ultimate Aero but since it’s launch this year the marque has insisted that it will be more than capable of reaching the legendary 250mph sought after.

Rumour from within SSC stated that the ultimate Aero recorded steady speeds of 210mph round an oval

Not only that but they calculated that in a wind tunnel the 1000bhp monster will reach somewhere in the region of 273mph!

The fourth car to come out of SSC will be produced in very small numbers. They intend on selling around 25 world wide for a price tag off around $655000. A bargain when you consider what you’ll pay for a Veyron but the Americans really should bare in mind that it’s not just top speed that makes the ultimate road car. The McLaren F1 is living proof of that.
