If you have the world land speed record in mind then it’s clear you’ll need a lot more than a big V12 and some
turbochargers. If the current record holder in anything to go with you’ll need around 100 times the power of the Bugatti
Veyron.
Boasting around 100,000 bhp from it’s two Rolls Royce jet engines (from lightning fighters), the British born Thrust
SSC holds the current land speed record at 763mph or mach 1.016 or even 1223kph. On October 15 1997, driven by Andy Green,
the SSC became the first ever supersonic record holder i.e. the first land vehicle to go faster than the speed of sound.
Now part of the extremely exclusive mach 1 club, the jet car remains unchallenged to this day. However in the USA preparations
are already underway to challenge the Thrust. The supersonic jet fighter based North American Eagle has an estimated top speed
of in excess of 800mph (mach 1.5)!

The challenger - looks like a plane and base on F104 jet, North American Eagle is gunning for 800mph |

The worlds most powerful beetle, and its not Paul McCartney. This ultimate modified VW is fitted with a 1350bhp jet engine
for monstrous acceleration. Strangely the rest of this ultimate street racer seems pretty much standard...
