Target 250mph...
Porsche tuner 9ff are also having a crack at 250mph with their GT2 based GT1. The Dortmound based tuner hopes to take
the turbocharge 911 to 250mph and beyond at Nardo in September. Several test runs have already been made and it may well be
that the 9ff has current record holder Bugatti's Veyron in it's sites...

The GT2 based 9ff boasts somewhere around 900bhp from it's twin turbo flat 6 |

How cheap can you buy 1000bhp. If the £800,000 Bugatti Veyron is anything to go on the answer is not very. Still there
are other ways. This Jun Akira Supra pictured above is an example of how this can be done.
It uses the same twin turbo 3.2 litre you’d find in any Supra TT but is overhauled using a massive turbine to create
the stated 1200bhp. The whole aerodynamics of the car had to be adjusted to make way for the extreme speeds the Supra would
be travelling at.
Jun Akira’s Supra was not just your average boy racers dream car though. No it was a serious contender for being
the fastest car in the world. In fact it was designed specifically to reach 400kph and beyond. As it happens, the Jun Akira
did just this at the Salt Lake Flats in 2001 where it hit a top speed of 249mph long before the Bugatti Veyron was even considered
for production.

Blitz' 750bhp Skyline GTR is one of the less powerful Skylines on the planet |
Another popular choice for engine overhaul is the 4WD Nissan Skyline GTR with it's twin turbo 4 cylinder engine. The Blitz
Skyline is an example of a manufacturer produced souped up Skyline. This particular example from 1999 produces 750bhp and
will hit somewhere around 213mph.
Blitz, among many other tuners, provide parts to the public to produce the same sort of power found in this Skyline in
their own garage!
